Discovering the dolphins of Oman

Occupying a fertile corner of the Indian Ocean, the seas of the Sultanate provide the opportunity to discover a wondrous diversity of dolphin species.

The rugged coastline and deep azure shores of Oman are home to some of the world’s most profuse and varied marine life. Alongside rays and sharks, vast pods of dolphins call these waters home, giving visitors the breathtaking opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the most intelligent (and playful) creatures on the planet.

Famous for their aerial acrobatics, Spinner Dolphins – with their long, thin beaks – are a common site in these waters. Frequently spotted alongside Bottlenose dolphins, Risso’s dolphins and many more species, the Gulf of Oman provides an abundance of entertainment – with theatrical displays which evolve with every new voyage.

With the mainland boasting a wide array of chartered boats and tour operators, whether you depart from Muscat, Musandam, A'Sharqiyah South Governorate or AlWasta Governorate, there are endless opportunities for adventure and discovery.
